Kingsman Sequel Title & New Details Revealed

Next year’s Kingsman sequel gets a title and some new details and we’ve got it all for you right now on Clevver Newsfeed! Eggsy and Merlin are set to head across the pond for Kingsman 2! In a new interview with Empire Magazine, Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn opens up about next year’s highly anticipated sequel and reveals the film’s official title. According to Vaughn, who is set to return behind the camera for the sequel, Kingsman 2 will be titled, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”. No word yet on what exactly the title is a reference to, but what we do know is the Kingsman headquarters will be destroyed early on in the film, sending Taron Egerton’s “Eggsy” and Mark Strong’s “Merlin” to America where they will join forces with the “Statesman”, the US counterpart to the Kingsman. While the Kingsman were housed in an underground bunker below a men’s tailor shop, the Statesman will use a whiskey distillery as their cover. Once stateside, Eggsy and Merlin will encounter the Statesman’s “swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy” leaders “Jack” and “Ginger”. While it’s unclear who will take on the role of “Jack”, “Ginger” is set to be played by Halle Berry. As for the villain of the film, Julianne Moore will take on the role of “Poppy”. While we’ll have to wait to find out what her nefarious plan is, we do know from concept art that she will have what looks to be a jungle lair known as “Poppyland”. According to Vaughn, finding the right villain was key not only to the film, but also to him returning to direct. He told Empire quote, “I didn't know if I wanted to direct this or not. I was worried about the villain. Spy films are only as good as their villains. Then one morning I woke up with the whole storyline in place, and a new villain plot.” Fans of the first film may be disappointed to hear that Vaughn has no interest in recreating the now infamous church sequence, despite many wishing he would. Vaughn explained that he has no reason to film another massacre, but does promise plenty of other sequences that we’ve never seen before including ones that involve robot dogs, one-armed henchmen and our heroes being attacked by a “massive frankfurter”. We can look forward to the aforementioned “massive frankfurter” and more when Kingsman: The Golden Circle arrives in theaters on June 16th, 2017, but what do you think of these new details and do you think Julianne Moore will make a good villain?
