In the neutral position, this inferior oblique muscle of the eye is responsible for extorsion, elevation and abduction of ocular bulb. During adduction, the inferior oblique muscle is responsible for elevation, abduction and extorsion. During abduction, this muscle is responsible for extorsion, abduction and elevation.
The origin of the inferior oblique muscle is found on the maxillary bone. It then inserts on the posteroinferior, lateral surface of the eye. The inferior oblique travels from the medial wall of the orbit to the inferolateral aspect of the eye.
